Babak Karimi | بابک کریمی
Babak Karimi, born on March 21, 1960, in Prague, is an Iranian actor and editor. He is the son of Nasrat Karimi, a theater actor in Iran. After completing his primary education in Tehran, Babak Karimi went to Italy, where he studied art and taught cinema at the Experimental Center for Cinematography in Rome. He graduated from the Rossellini Institute in Rome.
Apart from teaching, Karimi has been involved in various documentary projects as a director, cinematographer, and editor in different countries. He has worked on the editing of films such as "Placido Rizzotto," "Marquis," and "Secret Ballot."
As an actor, Babak Karimi was chosen by Asghar Farhadi to play the role of a judge in the film "A Separation," which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012. He has also acted in two other films by Asghar Farhadi, namely "The Past" and "The Salesman."
In addition to his collaboration with Farhadi, Babak Karimi has appeared in various films such as "Shahr Ghese," "Hotel," "Fossil," "Bucharest," and "City of Tales." He received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 38th Fajr Film Festival for his role in the film "City of Tales."
