Biography

Mahin Niktab (known as Mehin Shahabi), born on September 16, 1933, and passed away on September 17, 2010, was an Iranian actress. Her father was Mehdi Nazami, and her mother was Princess Agha, the daughter of Mohammad Hossein Mirza Mo'ayyed al-Dowleh (Tahmasb Mirza Mo'ayyed al-Dowleh) or Tahmasb Mirza from the Qajar dynasty. She was married to Houshang Shahabi, a writer, poet, and composer in the cinema. Mehin Shahabi began her artistic career with theater and amateur groups such as the Eskooyis (Mehin Eskooyi and Mostafa Eskooyi).

She first appeared in the play "Tabaghe Sheshom" (The Sixth Floor), which was performed for about four months at the Anahita Theater. She then performed in the play "Robahaye" (The Foxes) with the same group. Afterward, she joined the radio and worked as a presenter alongside Mani in the youth program on the radio. By playing in the play "Captain Ghareh Gaz" with Davood Rashidi, she joined the Dramatic Arts Department. Finally, with her role in the play "Dast Bezan" directed by Parviz Saberi, she had her first appearance in a television production.

In 1959, at the age of 24, Mehin Shahabi appeared in front of the camera for the first time in the film "Majare-ye Jangal" (The Jungle Adventure) directed by Mehdi Mirsamadzadeh. Her name in the credits of this film was mentioned as "Mrs. M. S."

Mehin Shahabi gained widespread popularity with the television series "Ayeneh" (The Mirror), directed by Gholamhossein Lotfi. Her last role was in the TV series "Vaziate Sefid" (White Situation) directed by Hamid Nematollah. After her illness and passing, Shohreh Tasslimi continued her role in the series.
