Deshneh : فیلم دشنه : is an Iranian film directed by Fereydoun Gole and produced in the Iranian calendar year 1351 (1972-1973).
Plot Summary: Abbas, also known as "Abbas Agha Chakhan," is a mute and jobless driver's apprentice who is constantly teased by Chakhan. One night, he accidentally meets Banafsheh, who has fled a notorious neighborhood in pursuit of her dreams but still aims to free herself from it and have a decent life. Abbas promises to help Banafsheh, and she, believing Abbas's promises, thinks she has encountered a wealthy and respectable man. When Banafsheh discovers that Abbas is in prison for a trivial debt, she secures his release by borrowing money from a loan shark named Mohammad, also known as "Mammad Doshaneh."
In prison, Abbas becomes acquainted with a fellow inmate who claims to be imprisoned because of his partner's betrayal. He asks Abbas to go to his brother after his release and collect his share from the unscrupulous partner. Abbas does so, only to find out that the partner has changed his ways and is leading a good life with his wife and children. Abbas, after a confrontation with Mammad Doshaneh, goes south to secure Banafsheh's approval for the money. In a bloody confrontation, Abbas realizes that the real traitor was his fellow inmate and not the person he went after.
Returning with the money, Abbas takes Banafsheh to the house he has acquired for her, unaware that Mammad Doshaneh is lying in wait for them. Ultimately, Abbas engages in a confrontation with Mammad, drowning him in the house's basin and getting wounded himself. Abbas is sent to prison for murder, and Banafsheh awaits his release. In the end, we see Abbas released from prison but still engaged in weaving carpets.
